    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: xd22577 Surnames: wolf, Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/7166.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I was going to say to look in a newspaper, because I found that a sidebranch of my LaHue's had a baby dropped on their doorstep in Iowa, but your people are in 1700s so that's out. and you don't know the county, so you can't really pull much. and the surname you do know is Wolf, so you have probably asked those people. My next guess would be to check this site http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/local/chancery/ its the Chancery records of virginia. see what you can find, or maybe more important Where you find them. then maybe you can send out a question to the county board/mailing list. :-) I looked, and I don't have a Hester in my lists. I did find some Woolf/Wolf - and that's in Shenanodah and Frederick counties. There is this site too: http://immigrantservants.com/search/surname?letter=W I'm not saying that your ancestor was an indentured servant like mine was, but it might give you an idea of location. I found one Wolfe (Barbados) and a Woolf (Westmoreland, VA) there are others like Wolford (Northumberland). I've got the Northumberland book on this, and they list both servants and landowners as well as ship captains since they received land for transportation. The only Wolf variation it has is Wolford - let me know if you would like it. Julie sunnydaze1@hotmail. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
