Based on Kentucky birth records and census records, it would appear that Wade Slate was born in Halifax County, VA. His wife Sarah Isabelle Humphrey, was born in Alabama. Their children included Charles, born in Tennessee about 1869; son Marion or Merron born about 1872 in Kentucky; daughter Nancy, born 1874 in Logan County, KY; son George born about 1877 in Kentucky; daughter Mary born about 1879 in Kansas; son David born about 1881 in Arkansa; son William born 1884, in Texas, son Samuel, born 1888, in Texas. Marion or Merron married a "Sammey" and had at least 4 children by 1900: Emmy, Allie, Jewel and Hunton. By 1910, Samuel had married Lucy or Luny(??) and had a son named Wade B., born 1909.
