STONE line. Neither do I know the names of her mother and father, nor do I have her birth and marriage records. The following info is from my deceased husband's (her son) birth certificate as well as from oral info obtained from him (James Frank Hall), his stepmother and his half brother. FRANCES EVELYN? STONE b. about 1893, Abingdon, Washington Co., VA d. between 1954-60, TX m1. GEORGE FRANKLIN HALL (b. 1895, Barnardville, Bumcombe Co., NC, m. in VA prior to 1923 i. JAMES FRANK HALL, b. 14 MAY 1923, Asheville, NC ii. ELIZABETH ANNE HALL, b. about 1926, NC m. WILLIAM RAY SAVANT, b. TX m2. MAJOR WORLEY GREER i. MARGARET GREER, b. about 1929, NC? m3. TOM POOLE I was told that FRANCES EVELYN? STONE descended from a signer of the Declaration of Independence, that her parents owned the "Stone Mt. Lumber & Mining? Coal? Co" in Big Stone Gap, VA, that she had several siblings (RACHEL STONE and PAULINE STONE are 2 of them). She attended King's College in Bristol, TN where she majored in "business". She met GEORGE FRANKLIN HALL while attending King 's College, and subsequently married him in VA. They moved to the Asheville, NC vicinity where JAMES FRANK HALL and ELIZABETH ANNE HALL were born. She moved to the Miami, FL area when JFH was about 8 years of age (about 1931). Sometime following W.W.II, she moved to the vicinity of Beamount, TX to be with her daughters who had married and settled there. Although the following info is speculation, at this time on my part, let me relate it to you: I came across a 1920 census record for a FRANCES STONE, age 66, a widow, Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN( Bristol lies in both Sullivan Co., TN and Washington Co., VA). The census indicates that she, as well as her parents were born in VA. Her daughters' (Rachel, age 24, and Pauline, age 20) resided with her; their father was also a native of VA. Both daughters are listed as stenographers ( the former worked for a lumber company and the latter for a florist). Is it possible that this 66 year old widow from the 1920 Bristol, TN census, FRANCES STONE, could be the mother of my FRANCES EVELYN? STONE ( who would have been about 27 years old at the time of the 1920 Bristol, TN census), and RACHEL and PAULINE her younger siblings? Thank you in advance for any information and/or suggestions regardingthis family line. Pat Hall ==== VAALBEMA Mailing List ==== If you found some information in an unusual way, let us know.
