You are the first person that I have come across researching that name. I started out with the Spruill name and it has taken me back to the Stubbs. Mary Stubbs was my great grandmother who married a Spruill. Her son James was my grandfather. The more I research this side of the family, the more questions I seem to have. They would just pick a alias and use that as legal name, for a few years, then go back to Stubbs and Spruill! If you have any further info, I sure would appreciate it!
