His name was Andrew Walker he married a lady whos last name was Axtell, she was from Ohio-they had four children-Lee, Earl, Murrel and Lizzie, Whom I think were all born in Illinois. He served in the Civil war with the Thirty-fifth Iowa Volunteers. Any help would be greatly appreciated Dave Becker Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. This may be a coincidence but I ran across a John Millcreek Hurst b 1735 Orange Co, VA, d 1817 Claiborne, TN. Three of his sons married into my McCarty family. My MILLER, MCCARTY, SKELTON, JENKINS, MYERS ancestors went to Putnam Co, IN. I don't recall the story about John Millcreek Hurst but believe he was infamous. You might want to check it out. I did search the Chancery Court records, but didn't find anything. I am hoping to find someone who might connect to this family from Hester's side and give me a surname clue. I have lots of information on the Wolff family from the time they arrived in this country. Unfortunately, our recent findings indicate, they are not my husband's ancestors. My next guess would be to check this site http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/local/chancery/ its the Chancery records of virginia. see what you can find, or maybe more important Where you find them. then maybe you can send out a question to the county board/mailing list. :-) I looked, and I don't have a Hester in my lists. I did find some Woolf/Wolf - and that's in Shenanodah and Frederick counties. There is this site too: http://immigrantservants.com/search/surname?letter=W I'm not saying that your ancestor was an indentured servant like mine was, but it might give you an idea of location. I found one Wolfe (Barbados) and a Woolf (Westmoreland, VA) there are others like Wolford (Northumberland). I've got the Northumberland book on this, and they list both servants and landowners as well as ship captains since they received land for transportation. The only Wolf variation it has is Wolford - let me know if you would like it. Julie sunnydaze1@hotmail. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: tajwolff Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/7166/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to find the surname of a woman named Hester who married Frederick Lorenz Wolff, probably in VA, between about 1770 and 1777. Hester had a child named Daniel(probably b.1769-1771) from whom my husband's line descended. We recently did DNA testing with another Wolff branch and it is conclusive that although Daniel went by the name of Wolff, he was not blood related to them. The Wolffs went from PA to Frederick Co, MD and then moved to Bethania NC in 1769. Hester died in NC sometime before May 1808. Lorenz remarried in May 1808. His will states that Daniel was Hester's son. Do you have anyone in your family tree that could be my Daniel or Hester? I have searched marriage records in both VA and MD but can't find a marriage for Hester and Lorenz. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
