Would anyone be researching the Kidwell and Angus surnames? I know very little about the Kidwells, but will tell what I do know. My 4th great grandfather was James Kidwell born cir 1777 in Virginia (county unknown). He married Elizabeth Angus born 1782 in Virginia possibly Amherst Co. or Mecklenburg Co. The Angus family was in Amherst Co. at some point, but I'm not certain what time frame. By 1809, some of the Angus family (Elizabeth and at least two siblings, James Angus and Mary Angus Wilsford) were in Giles Co., TN. Her brother, Alexander Angus, also came, but not sure of what year, but was there by 1820. James Kidwell and Elizabeth Angus were married in either 1809 or 1811 in Giles Co., TN. I have seen two sources that give these 2 different dates. I do believe they could have been in Kentucky at some point, as some of their children state they were born in Kentucky in census records. They had 5 children known of: Mary, Sarah, William, James, and Alexander Mary born cir 1811 married William Scott cir 1835 in Giles Co. Sarah born cir 1813 married Matthew Pate 1851 in Giles Co. William born cir 1816 married Nancy Mulkey/Mulky or Muncey (just not sure on that) cir 1841/42-haven't been able to find him-wasn't in any census record. James born cir 1818 married Mary Jane Castleberry, migrated to Oregon Co., Missouri. Alexander born cir 1823 married Elizabeth Dickerson had 1 daughter, Dulcina Mississippi Elizabeth Kidwell. Married second Nancy Glasscock. He remained in Giles Co. I do not know the parentage of James Kidwell. If anyone knows about this James Kidwell or if you have him in your records somewhere, let me know. Judy Sanders

I just have time to copy you a bio of "my" Alexander Suite's son, William Riley Suite. I am descended from William's sister, Cynthia (not mentioned in this bio). Anyways, I think you'll find this info interesting, as it mentions two uncles who were in the War of 1812. =============== William R Suite biography Added by triplet_mom on 2 Nov 2007 http://members.tripod.com/debmurray/tipton/tipbioref-9.htm Courtesy of Deb Murray http://members.tripod.com/~debmurray/indybios/indiana1.htm WILLIAM R. SUITE, one of the well-to-do farmers of Prairie Township, was born in Delaware County, Ind., April 1, 1827. He is the third of a family of six children born to Alexander and Sarah (Stout) Suite, natives respectfully of Tennessee and North Carolina, and of English descent. His grandfather was a Revolutionary soldier, and two of his uncles (Suite) participated in the war of 1812. His father located in the western part of Howard County, on a pre-emption claim, in the fall of 1840. He soon sold his claim, and, investing in several more in Tipton County, he disposed of them in like manner. When our subject was eight years of age, his mother died, and he was bound out by his father to a man named John Schooley, with whom he remained about three years, at the end of which time his father again married, and William was taken home. About this time his father settled in what was then Hamilton, but now Tipton County. He remained with his father until he attained his majority! , when he started in life for himself, with no capital, save his disposition to labor. He has since then become the possessor of 208 acres of fine land, eighty acres of which he sold to his son, leaving a farm of 128 acres, beautifully located, well improved, and supplied with all necessary implements. His father becoming feeble in his old age, William took him to his home, and made his pathway to the tomb as smooth and pleasant as loving hands could do. Our subject was married, March 29, 1849, to Miss Lucy A. Fanchier, of Kentucky, born November 29, 1824; she was the first of a family of fifteen children born to John B. and Sarah (Broills) Fanchier, natives of Virginia, and of French and English descent. Eight children have crowned this marriage, of whom three are now living, viz.: George W., born January 10, 1850; Issac, born July 31, 1857; Abigail (now Myers), born December 4, 1860. He and his wife are members of the Christian Church, with which they have been associated! from youth. He is also a member of the Masonic fraternity, and holds that order in high esteem. Politically, he has always voted the Democratic ticket, save one vote cast for Lincoln for President. In 1882, his party elected him to the office of Road Superintendent. He is an energetic, commendable citizen. "Counties of Howard and Tipton, IN" published in 1883 by F.A. Author: blizzard Surnames: SUIT, HARRISON Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/7202.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks so much for the reply and great information. I have never seen Alexander Suite/Suit listed with Benjamin's family before today. Also, I am directly descended from Mary Elizabeth Suit Scott and William Scott so I am intrigued by the idea that she was from Benjamin. I had always had her as his sister, not daughter. I am wondering where the authors got the information that she was Benjamin's daughter. I am desceneded from the Scott's and also from Norris Marshall J. Suite, Son of Samuel Suite, son of James Suit, and probably son of William Suit who was son of Nathaniel Suit and Elizabeth Williams. We figured out Elizabeth from land left to her sister Jean/Jane Ellis. Norris Suite was my great grandfather, and he also married a Williams--Roseanne E. "Rose" Williams. Anyway, about Benjamin--he died 23 Feb 1809 leaving a will in St. Mary's Co MD and he kept hesitating writing his will so a clergyman finished it for him. So it is not very complete. His wife was Mildred but we don't know her maiden name. A researcher said it may be Moran but I don't remember why and I can't find the information. Dent Suite, Benjamin's father died leaving a will in St. Mary's Co MD in 1792, but he had moved to Granville Co NC aroudn 1786 and was in the 1790 census there. Benjamin SUIT is found in Caswell Co NC in 1803 in the estate sale of Thomas Langley who was probably from Md. Also, found in the same estate sale in 1803 is Henry Burch--probably the one who married Susannah Suite. In Dent's will, he mentions children: Benjamin Suit, Thomas Suit, John Suit (John Dent Suit), Sarah Suit, and Eleanor Suit. He mentions the land tract called "Horse Range," and gave the house to his son "John Dent Suit," who may be the one who died in 1795. Benjamin was the executor of his dad's will and witnesses included: Benjamin Edwards, George Dent, Joseph Harrison. Was Eleanor also a Dent? According to an email from Linda Reno to the Rootsweb St. Mary's MD list, Benjamin's will was dated 1810 and his wife was Mildred and his children were: Kelita , Benjamin , John Adams, and Mildred Ann Suit. (He refers to them as being udnerage.) He apparently also had older children because after Benjamin died, Mildred is found in 1810 in Dinwiddie Co Va and there we find Augustin Suit and Johnson Suit serving in the War of 1812 there so I assume they were also her children.. And of course, we know Victoria was their daughter. Also, it is notable that here were no witnesses noted on Benjamin's will as it was hasitly written. An Orphan's court deposition in 1810 by Neale H. Shaw (a clergyman) says that Benjamin was asked to write the will but kept kept putting it off until it was too late and died before he finished it. Then on 8-7-1810 the Orphan's Court determined it was valid. I checked my FTM and see an Alexander Suit living in TN who married an Agness Benfield 27 Jan 1784. I have no parents listed for him--or proven children. I also have an Alexander (maybe son of the other Alexander) who is also in TN who married Abigail Pike. This Alexander was born 02 Feb 1799 and died 05 Jan 1867 in Tipton Co. IN. He married 2nd to a Sarah Stout and had some children with each wife. Then, another Alexander Suit was in Indiana as well. He lived 1812 (grave says 1818) to June 22, 1902. How did you find an Alexander Suit to be a son of Benjamin. Also, a Benjamin Suit was in PA at the same time. I don't know who he was and I think he may have married a Gest or Geist. I can't find the iformation, but I think it was in Lancaster or York, PA. I know Jesse Suit from MD also married a woman with a similar name, but it apparently didn't work out. PLEASE let me know what you have further on Joseph HARRISON's family. The Harrison's were connected to Suit's since the late 1600's and I found a will in Va dated 1739 for an Edward Sute that mentions a Thomas Harrison. Then, Linda Reno believes my James Suit married first to a Rebecca Harrison. So many questions--so little time... Thanks again! B.
