Author: lostlenore1970 Surnames: Croxton Moore Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/3055.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm also having a hard time finding the origins of Thomas Croxton who married Barbara Moore and ended up in Illinois. They were living in Gallatin, Kentucky in 1850, so the 1850 Slave Schedules I've found with Thomas Croxton of Essex, Virginia probably have nothing to do with him. If anyone stumbles upon anything relevant, I'd love to hear about it. I'll be happy to share what I know of him after 1850, and he is my great great great grandfather. 1. [VIRGINIA] YESTERDAYS UPDATED
    2. mike spencer
    3. Hi list, for those with English ancestry the Yesterdays site has been updated with hundreds more names of persons found in official documents in Derbyshire but with connections throughout the British Isles. Many newer documents refer to Law and Order and few rare cases are listed. Heage Law and Order. a mother abandons her baby and watches until someine finds the child. Chesterfield Law and Order. Was Ellen CROFT naive, did she really think a pact over silver would mean the father of her child would marry her. Melbourne Miscellany Cornelius BRENTNALL gets no response because no one can be bothered to read the letter. also at Melbourne Miscellany. An EARP goes to America. Plus many other records, like, Board of Guardians, the body that decided who came to the workhouse, read their deliberations. Although these documents relate to Derbyshire they are standard documents which should be found in County Record Offices throughout England. mike -- http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm

Author: xd22577 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/1727.1.1.2.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm not sure if this will be of much help, but my ancestor came over as an indentured servant in 1672 - in the book I found him in "Records of Indentured Servants and of Certificates for Land Northumberland County , VA 1650-1795" by Preston Haynie. Granted my guy is white, but in this book they list the Master as well as the Servant, so maybe if you search for the Randolphs you could find names??? the other thing is that I recently went through the early tax records (1780s-1802) of Frederick county, VA and under N they had the free people of color listed in some of the years. Other years had them mixed in with "Free Negro" in parentheses. sorry I couldn't be of more help Julie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [VIRGINIA] 110 Years of LIfe Magazine Photos Now Online!
    2. Julie
    3. from another list --- On Wed, 11/26/08, Barbara A Valentin <batv@juno.com> wrote: - 110 Years of Life Magazine Photos Now Online I love those glossy photographs that Life Magazine is famous for. Now the magazine has placed 10 million photographs on Google's servers. The photographs range from Margaret Bourke-White's harrowing depictions of the just-liberated concentration camps to Dorothea Lange's haunting photo of a migrant mother to pictures of men walking on the Moon. One picture that I especially like is that of a parade on Pennsylvania Avenue in 1865. On many of the photos, you need to click on the link labeled "View Full Size" in order to see the high resolution version. You can start exploring here: http://images.google.com/hosted/life. Another method is to search Google by and simply add "source:life" to any Google image search. That will limit the search to the LIFE photo archive. For example: genealogy source:life. Even if you don't find exactly what your looking for there's lots of interesting pictures. My thanks to Carla Bodette for letting me know about this valuable new resource.
