This is GREAT info that you located and have shared with me! DEFINITELY is info I'd not have been aware of otherwise! You may well be correct about Virginia Walker being "my" Virginia (my late uncle's much older widow). That's certainly a lead that I will try to figure out some way to follow up on! I don't believe Virginia had any children, even if she had previously married, as her obituary states that she had no known survivors. I really appreciate the sleuthing that you did and the lead about Virginia Walker that you have provided me with! Thanks so much for your wonderful proactive help! Of course with not good info, it is hard to find someone.. But what I did try, I went to Ancestry.com and entered "just" Virginia and entered her DOB. Nothing exact.. BUT, there are a few Virginia's born October 1893 in the Baltimore area as well as a Virginia Walker that is from the New Port News area.. I believe that is in the Hampton area.. Just a needle in a hay stack, but this is how I go about searching.. Most likely if Ed and Virginia were married late in life- it is possibly that she was married once before.. If you knew more about her, it would be nice.. I was able to collect a lot of my Late Grandmother's things and she had names of about every person she must have met. I made so many connections with what I had.. Good Luck to you on yours. Barbara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dear list, I'm looking for information on Bernard Schrimpf. He arrived in the US during 1874 as a 12 y/o and probably with his family. I assume he made the westerly progression as he married in Missouri and died in Leavenworth, Ks. Feb. 2, 1906. Any information or another direction to pursue in the research of this man's genecology would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John Schrimpf, Jefferson City, Mo. **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! There's a series of books called the Virginia Slave Births Index (1853-1865) which pulls together all known and recorded slave births during that time. Apparently you can order them online, but they come in four large (and rather expensive) volumes so you may want to check w/ your library first. Here's the blurb: In 1853, the Commonwealth of Virginia began an annual registration of births and deaths. The Birth Index of Slaves, 1853-1865 was later transcribed by the Works Project Administration (WPA) and recorded on microfilm. While the information—name of slave owner, infant’s name, mother’s name, birth date, place of birth—is of immense value to genealogists, working with the microfilm can be problematic. Hence, the creation of this multi-volume reference work, Virginia Slave Births Index, 1853-1865. 2003, staff and volunteers with Local History/Special Collections, Alexandria Library began to transcribe the WPA microfilm, enter data into spreadsheets, and sort the information by slave owner’s surname and given name. Entries include single births, multiple births, and stillbirths. Occasionally, both parents of an enslaved infant are identified. In rare instances, the name of a freeborn infant appears. Independent city and county names are spelled out. Data not reported in the microfilm is denoted by “----.” Illegible text in the microfilm is denoted by “####.” This index includes more than 130,000 entries. I hope this helps someone. http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.afam.va/655/mb.ashx posted Feb 21 2009 by fencinggal

I see "Wealthy" and Ruben/Reuben in 1880 Kentucky and 1930 Missouri so far. Need to keep looking. Not sure what "looking for info" means but i suspect you are looking for confirmation of their parents(?). Let me know what you need. RC (Ronald) Nicholson I am looking for info on a Lewis Southerland (Sutherlan). On Reuben (Rufice) Sutherland death certificate it gave Lewis Southerland as his father. Reuben was born in 1838 in Patrick County. He died 21 Dec 1931 in Plattin, Jefferson, Missouri. Looking for info on a Wealthy Ann Taylor. On her death certificate (she died in Plattin, Jefferson, Missouri Feb 8, 1834) it states her parents were Thomas Taylor and Elizabeth Dales.
