    2. Hi all, Just a reminder my lookups in 2 books for Alexandria and Prince William Co. were done as of last night. Although I still had some people sending requests today. I understand that the people who get the digest version of the list did not see it until today so that was fine. But I am definitely finished with them now so please do not send any miore lookup requests. I had the time yesterday. Thank you. :) God bless, Beth

STONE line. Neither do I know the names of her mother and father, nor do I have her birth and marriage records. The following info is from my deceased husband's (her son) birth certificate as well as from oral info obtained from him (James Frank Hall), his stepmother and his half brother. FRANCES EVELYN? STONE b. about 1893, Abingdon, Washington Co., VA d. between 1954-60, TX m1. GEORGE FRANKLIN HALL (b. 1895, Barnardville, Bumcombe Co., NC, m. in VA prior to 1923 i. JAMES FRANK HALL, b. 14 MAY 1923, Asheville, NC ii. ELIZABETH ANNE HALL, b. about 1926, NC m. WILLIAM RAY SAVANT, b. TX m2. MAJOR WORLEY GREER i. MARGARET GREER, b. about 1929, NC? m3. TOM POOLE I was told that FRANCES EVELYN? STONE descended from a signer of the Declaration of Independence, that her parents owned the "Stone Mt. Lumber & Mining? Coal? Co" in Big Stone Gap, VA, that she had several siblings (RACHEL STONE and PAULINE STONE are 2 of them). She attended King's College in Bristol, TN where she majored in "business". She met GEORGE FRANKLIN HALL while attending King 's College, and subsequently married him in VA. They moved to the Asheville, NC vicinity where JAMES FRANK HALL and ELIZABETH ANNE HALL were born. She moved to the Miami, FL area when JFH was about 8 years of age (about 1931). Sometime following W.W.II, she moved to the vicinity of Beamount, TX to be with her daughters who had married and settled there. Although the following info is speculation, at this time on my part, let me relate it to you: I came across a 1920 census record for a FRANCES STONE, age 66, a widow, Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN( Bristol lies in both Sullivan Co., TN and Washington Co., VA). The census indicates that she, as well as her parents were born in VA. Her daughters' (Rachel, age 24, and Pauline, age 20) resided with her; their father was also a native of VA. Both daughters are listed as stenographers ( the former worked for a lumber company and the latter for a florist). Is it possible that this 66 year old widow from the 1920 Bristol, TN census, FRANCES STONE, could be the mother of my FRANCES EVELYN? STONE ( who would have been about 27 years old at the time of the 1920 Bristol, TN census), and RACHEL and PAULINE her younger siblings? Thank you in advance for any information and/or suggestions regardingthis family line. Pat Hall ==== VAALBEMA Mailing List ==== If you found some information in an unusual way, let us know. 1. [VIRGINIA] Redding/Spillman lookup
    2. VLB
    3. This is a long shot in the dark of history. Timothy Redding [Reading] b. 1707 d. 1760 Germantown, Fauquier Co., VA married Mary Spillman on 1742 Germantown, VA. Daughter of John Spillman and Mary FISHBACK. Children included Joseph, Sarah, William, Isaac. Now, the question I need answered is---does the census for VA cover this time frame? Is there any information on John Spillman or his wife anywhere? Or Redding? Isaac was said to have married his first cousin Millie. I have seen one source which states he married Mildred ARMISTEAD instead. If he married his first cousin she would have to be daughter of William who married Clara [????]. I would like to pin this group down. The Redding's married into the Tinder clan. 1. [VIRGINIA] Website updated with transcriptions,look-ups,photos,documents,links,names etc.
    2. Hello list,     I've updated my website with not only my own family information, but also some data that I've put together to hopefully help others.  Here's what you'll find.   1. Of course my family info with copies of documents such as those that I found at the National Archives in DC in my great great grandfather Louis KIRCHER's (born in Weinsberg, Wurttemberg) Civil War Pension files.  Included in those papers are sworn statements made by friends to aid in the pension eligibility research.   2. I own a few census index cds and have full access to ancestry.com/ancestryplus and I am willing to do look ups.  Just click on the census image on my home page and it will take you to a page where there are directions to follow.  Please follow them or I will not be able to answer your request.   3. Some inscriptions that I found on tombstones at Fernwood Cemetery just outside of Philadelphia, PA that were near those of my own family members.   4. The Last Wills of 4 WEINBERG/VINEYARD/VINYARD ancestors.  They came from Lavern, Westphalia, Prussia to Cumberland County, New Jersey.  The wills were provided by Barb and Doug May.    5. Four partial Ships' Lists all Liverpool, England to Philadelphia, PA. 1907 - 1910.  Not all passengers were from England, so look them over for your ancestral names.   6. I transcribed  3 pages from the Philadelphia, PA. Orphan's Court Marriage Records Index 1885 - 1916.  Many names there!   7. I put some old unknown photos from all over the world from ebay on my site in hopes that someone might find a relative there.  If interested,  you should be able to just right click on the enlarged photo and then left click on "Save Picture As".   8. Many fantastic useful free links.  There are a few that provide limited access but still give you enough free information to start out with.  I update the links monthly and mark new ones as NEW with bright red letters that you can not miss.      9.  Photos of headstones at Fernwood Cemetery coming soon.   the URL is...   http://hometown.aol.com/ella12866/index.html   Some of you might find accessing this URL a little easier, but the graphics don't line up right...   http://members.aol.com/ella12866/index.html       If you should have trouble accessing the page just please continue to try again later.  It just means that a lot of people are trying to access it and I guess AOL can't handle the overload.  I am sending this out to all of the lists that I belong to.  I swear that I am giving the correct URL.     Please forgive my multiple postings, but I think it's important that I let as many people know about my site as humanly possible.  Please pass it on to everyone you know who is interested in genealogy who might be on a list that by some small miracle I don't belong to.  There is definitely something there for everyone from beginner to expert.      If you're reading this from a specific surname mailing list and you can't find the surname in any of the documents/transcriptions or family trees, send me an email.  Most likely that means that the surname is in my family tree but just hasn't found a spot on my website yet.     If you're reading this post off of a Geographic mailing list and no one on my website is from that area, then check the ships'  lists for country/state/city of origin or final destination.  If you don't find anything there, then again, email me.  I have ancestors from there who didn't make it on my website yet.   Happy hunting and good luck, Ella PS. Use the Pico search engine on my homepage to search my site for your specific interest.

    1. [VIRGINIA] Possible Resource for List
    2. Web Champ
    3. To all... I recently found an item on the following webpage that looks pretty interesting: http://www.kinseeker.com/id11.html . It's a "Southeastern States Resource Guide" with links to quite a few general and state-specific genealogical resources. Take a look and see what you think. I also recently posted this to the Washington DC mailing List at [email protected] , so if you read/post to that list, you may not want to email for another copy. I will also be posting this to other mailing lists for the southeast. Thanks!

    1. [VIRGINIA] Find a Grave website
    2. Hi all, A very good website to visit on Memorial Day is "Find a Grave." They have online flowers, flags and mroe that you can place on someone's online tribute page. You can just visit online graves or you can add some too to help other people. I have done that, I have so far added just over 130 some. Some people have added thousands. But you don't have to add any, that is up to you. You can search the site. The URL is: http://www.findagrave.com God bless, Beth [email protected]
