    3. Julie Thank you so much for this! I don't see any new information in it, BUT.... when we string out a series of little clues, it's amazing what it can lead to. Who was Mrs Elizabeth BANKS? How did she hook up with Matthias? Who was Capt George ESKRIDGE? How did he come to transport Matthias? What boat was he captain of? And where did it sail from? Why did Matthias leave England, especially at the tender age of 14? Was Matthias related or attached to any other passenger on that list? If he appeared before the Court in 1698 but Capt ESKRIDGE did not receive headrights for him until 1705/06... Did it take that long for the awarding of land? Or did Matthias come over once again? Where was he between those years? Did he go back to England and then return with Capt ESKRIDGE? Matthias was indentured for four years over here.... then what? I may never find the answers to any of these questions, but it does give me some places to look - and who knows what else is there. Thank you for this information. I appreciate what you're doing. 3. I can help on ESKRIDGE - his name comes up a LOT, so I think he might be one of the main captains on that route at that time. and after the 4 years, he may have gotten his own place. My Nicholas LEHUGH had 2 entries as a servant and 2 as the Master... SO, your guy might have more entries, they are just in a different county I found this on Matthias in LVA's website - it looks like he lived in Chesterfield County. http://ajax.lva.lib.va.us/F/FIL6IP8LQH2ASFE3HYE84783MQU5K73QH28HIN61M3QNM2TCH9-17412?func=full-set-selected There is also this one: http://lvaimage.lib.va.us/cgi-bin/GetLONN.pl?first=1010&last=&g_p=P19&collection=LO Patent Title Chitwood, Matthias. Publication 6 July 1741. Other Format Available on microfilm. Virginia State Land Office. Patents 1-42, reels 1-41. Note Location: Goochland County. Just an fyi, my Nicholas got land in Stafford county, but we seemed to have lived mainly in Front Royal, VA - Frederick and Shenandoah County... good luck! Author: robmee Surnames: Meehan Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.unknown/7128/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been tracing my Meehan family, which began in Jermyn (formerly Gibsonburg), )PA in the 1860's. I have recently received information which brings me to Pearisburg, Giles County, VA, to see if I can make contact with any descendants of Gerard Meehan. Gerard J. Meehan, son of Daniel J. Meehan and Margaret Morrow, was born about 1917 in Pennsylvania, most likely in either Jermyn or DuBois. His siblings were Charles Morrow Meehan (1909-1955), Rosanne Meehan (1918-1936), and Daniel J. Meehan (1919-??). According to family history, Gerard was raised by a Frank Fisher of DuBois. He is known to have lived for a time in Syracuse, NY. His last known residence was in Pearisburg, VA, where he is believed to have passed away, sometime during or after 1967. According to one of Gerard's nephews, Gerard's wife might have been named Sally, and he was survived by two daughters Gerard's father Daniel is the first cousin of my grandfather Patrick Meehan from Jermyn, PA. If there are any descendants of Gerard J. Meehan interested in discussing family history, I would like to hear from them. 1. [VIRGINIA] Records for George Morris and the Morris family
    2. Thank you for doing lookups. I am doing research on my great-grandfather George W. Morris who states he was born in Virginia, he moved to Hawkins County Tennessee at least in 1860 where I found him in the census and marriage records, then they moved to Bowling Green, KY area where several other Morris's lived. He was born in Virgina about 1835 doing the census age calculations. I know that quite a few Morris's lived in Virgina but am trying to find out who his parents are. I have a couple of names, Reese Morris, William Morris or George Morris who may be linked, but cannot be sure. My late grandmother said her Morris family came originally from Wales and talked about a plantation. Not sure if any of this will help, but thank you for any assistance. Thank you Katherine Bailey (Morris, Pine, McDonald, McMahon, Gilligan and all those I have yet to discover) "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known" Carl Sagan **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
