Could anyone direct me on how I would go about in searching for the wherabouts of a studio by what's on the back of old photo's? Have lots and need help with people and places1 thanks!

If you have that information, you can consult a city directory or census records. There are several state-specific directories of photographers that are available. Using the characteristics of the photographic mounting, the type of photograph, the pose and the clothing of the subject a good estimate of the age of the photograph can be made. I guess we need to know what format the photographs are and exactly what information is on them to be of greater help. Bill Christen -- gwjchris@earthlink.net
