Hello all, I'm not sure that this is pertinent, but there is a simple way to index photos on a CD. I have scanned & burned to CD about 500 images in connection with my genealogy research and wanted a simple hard copy of the various files on each disk. This can be done by opening the MS program "Outlook" (comes with most win98 platforms). 1.)Open "Outlook" 2.)On left hand side is a vertical row of icons; on the bottom, click "Other". 3.)Click "My computer" 4.)Select the appropriate storage location. i.e. 3 1/2 " floppy; C drive; D drive; E drive. Up pops the file list of the entire CD or floppy that is in use. This list can be arranged in several ways..Alphabetical, file size, author, etc. Various folders can also be created here. Just create new folder and drag and drop the chosen files. When I scanned each image, I gave them names depending upon the family name, followed by first name, date , or initial. That way , folders can be created for each family, and the file name can be as long as is necessary to describe the file. Then hit "Print" and you have a hard copy to view. George
