    3. This is what MyFamily says ----- Original MesMyFamily.com Announces new Premium Site Offering We are pleased to announce your eligibility to own a Premium Site at MyFamily.com. Our new premium service allows you to share more with your family than ever before. This is the first premium offering available on MyFamily.com since our launch on December 26, 1998. ---------------------------------------- Our Story As a member of MyFamily.com, you belong to a community of more than 2.8 million family web sites with more than 11.8 million members. Since our launch, you and the other members of MyFamily.com have posted more than 30 million items in your efforts to share your lives with other family members and loved ones! We are delighted that so many of you enjoy using our services to strengthen your family ties. Your success using MyFamily.com means we are fulfilling our mission to enrich lives by connecting families. Turning your site into a Premium Site will give us the additional resources we need to support all of the activity of our growing membership. ---------------------------------------- New Premium Site Option Premium Sites are now available for only $19.95 per year. These sites are advertising free (no more banners!) and will have 100 MB of storage to store hundreds of photos and family files. Additional storage space is available in increments of 100 MB for only $19.95. A premium site also allows you to have your own custom URL at MyFamily.com, such as brownfamily.myfamily.com. You can give your family a gift by sponsoring your site. Only one member of your site needs to pay, and everyone else will be able to use the Premium Site for free. Other online services are charging far more for online storage space or for simple web-based tools with almost no storage space. Some even charge a fee to every individual who uses the group site. Fortunately, MyFamily.com can provide more value than other sites for less money because we invested early in core technologies that make our operating costs more efficient. ---------------------------------------- Changes in Service E-mail accounts at MyFamily.com will be limited to premium sites in the future. Additionally, free sites will be limited to 5 MB of storage space. These changes will not take place on existing sites until September 17, 2001. If you are currently over the 5 MB free site limit, you will have one month to decide if you want to upgrade your site to a Premium Site. If you decide not to upgrade your site, you will be unable to add any new content to your site beyond the 5 MB limit other than through the Online Family Tree. >> Become your site's sponsor and upgrade to a Premium Site today http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=premsite ---------------------------------------- Special Promotion for Existing Members - Upgrade now and get twice the space! As a special incentive to upgrade your site now, we are offering an additional 100 MB of storage space for the first 2,000 sites that are upgraded to a Premium Site or who purchase additional space. This means you will be receiving a Premium Site with 200 MB of storage space for only $19.95 per year! When your site membership is renewed, it will also be renewed with the same amount of bonus space. >> Become your site's sponsor and upgrade to a Premium Site today http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=premsite ---------------------------------------- Special Bonus for Ancestry.com Subscribers Annual subscribers to Ancestry.com will receive a Premium Site at MyFamily.com for free as long as they subscribe to Ancestry.com. If you are a current annual subscriber on Ancestry.com, you can choose a current site to sponsor or create a new Premium Site. Annual subscriptions are available on Ancestry.com for only $69.95. If you have not yet subscribed to Ancestry.com, now is the perfect time. >> Learn more about annual subscription options on Ancestry.com http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=ancsub ---------------------------------------- Thank you for your continued support. We are glad to be providing our services to you and your family, and we have great plans for the future of MyFamily.com. P.S.: Upgrade immediately and get twice the space - the first 2,000 (two thousand) existing members who upgrade will get an additional 100 MB of storage space. >> Upgrade your site now http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=premsite sage ----- From: George Painter To: VINTAGE-PHOTOS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2001 12:48 PM Subject: Re: [VINTAGE-PHOTOS] Free photo storage sites? I have been wondering where the info about the new site limit and charges came from as I don't recall receiving such a notice. I just carefully reviewed my MyFamily Site and finally found a notice at the bottom of my page which said I had gone over my limit also. I then found that they offer subscribers to the Ancestry site a free upgrade. Here is the notice: Special Offer for Ancestry.com Subscribers: Annual subscribers to Ancestry.com receive a free Premium Site or Premium Site Upgrade. To receive this special offer: 1. Select the option for "Add 100 MB 200 MB ($19.95 Annually)" above. 2. Enter your Ancestry.com Username and Password below. 3. Click "Upgrade My Site!" I entered my Ancestry user name and password and now am credited with 200MBs. I haven't prices other sites, but believe it is a bargain. I did look at this site recommended in the August PC WORLD magazine as the best home page site was at www.homestead.com. It offers fairly user friendly methods to build your own site. You can see some of the results if you take the tour and some owner sites look really good. They charge 49.95 per year. I still think MyFamily site is much better for my needs and since I have a lot of time invested in it, I think I will stay with it and even if I had to pay the additional 20.00 per year, it isn't too bad. After all, there is no free lunch anymore.
