I have not seen a website that is an index of indexes and I think one would be useful. So I'm thinking about putting the material I have onto a website and asking everyone to add to it. The site would be simple, along the lines "If you know the photographer came from Edinburgh, Scotland, here are the websites to visit and the books to check". Has this already been done and I missed it? Does it sound like a good idea? >> I think this does sound like a good idea. I was researching old family photos from Nebraska and came upon website at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~neresour/ancestors/photogindx.html I have not done an extensive search for others, however most of the photographer's sites I found were for current businesses. 3. I haven't seen anything like what you are proposing. I usually turn to Photographers: A Sourcebook for Historical Research edited by Peter Palmquist for print sources. You have a great idea!
