    3. Hello all, Could someone here follow the link to the photo to help me identify the timeframe it was taken in? I am trying to figure out if this is my grandmother in the very middle (it sure looks a lot like her as a young woman) or possibly her mother or even someone else. My grandmom was born in 1912 and since this is a young woman, I would say it can't be any earlier than 1922 if it is her. I know it's hard to figure out looking at the style of clothing (at least for me and that's why I joined the list!)..looks like some kind of theatrical pose..any ideas on what that's all about? If it's great grandmom, she was born in 1885, so that would make her a young woman in about 1900 or so...does this seem more like it? Thanks for your help! http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=586598&a=4283760&p=56995155&Sequence=0&res=high Raquel Researching the Horsch Family from Hohenhaslach and the Joos Family from Meimsheim and near Freiburg

    3. Raquel, Since it does seem that all the folks in the photo are dressed 'in costume', trying to date the photo by looking at the clothing would be a risky business. You might have better, more reliable luck to look at the type of photo itself... there are clues given in the backing, the size of the photo, the corners and decoration on the mounting... This is a good site to learn more about it: http://www.classyimage.com/picdate.htm And this is an excellent site for comparing old clothing when it's more feasable: http://www.familychronicle.com/dating.htm Good luck!
