    3. This is why photos should be matted when they are framed. The mat keeps the photo away from the glass. An | 1878 picture that had been damaged by a tear across the face. The point | I am making is that I took it to a professional photograph repair | person. When I explained your situation to him, his first words were | STOP, STOP, AND STOP. | The reason he gave was that if the picture has been stuck to the glass | over a period of time it will be next to impossible to remove it without | totally damaging the original picture. | Another solution he stated was to take the picture to a professional | photographer who deals with this type of work and see if a negative can | be made from the picture thought the glass. It will be difficult but if | not to much damage has occurred it can be done. | Hate to give a negative answer to your problem but, he stated, that this | type of damage of the picture stuck on the glass is next to impossible | to correct, without damaging the picture beyond repair. He did not | encourage the use of water. | Sorry I can not be of more help. Just be cautious as you are working | with the picture. | Leland | | ----- Original Message ----- | From: <genmail@1st.net> | To: <VINTAGE-PHOTOS-L@rootsweb.com> | Sent: Wednesday, July 31, 2002 8:40 AM | Subject: [VINTAGE-PHOTOS] Safe Frame Removal--Photo Stuck to Glass | | | > This was posted on another list where the answer is less likely to be | > found.
