Our new premium service allows you to share more with your family than ever before. This is the first premium offering available on MyFamily.com since our launch on December 26, 1998. ---------------------------------------- Our Story As a member of MyFamily.com, you belong to a community of more than 2.8 million family web sites with more than 11.8 million members. These sites are advertising free (no more banners!) and will have 100 MB of storage to store hundreds of photos and family files. Additional storage space is available in increments of 100 MB for only $19.95. A premium site also allows you to have your own custom URL at MyFamily.com, such as brownfamily.myfamily.com. You can give your family a gift by sponsoring your site. Only one member of your site needs to pay, and everyone else will be able to use the Premium Site for free. Other online services are charging far more for online storage space or for simple web-based tools with almost no storage space. Some even charge a fee to every individual who uses the group site. Fortunately, MyFamily.com can provide more value than other sites for less money because we invested early in core technologies that make our operating costs more efficient. ---------------------------------------- Changes in Service E-mail accounts at MyFamily.com will be limited to premium sites in the future. Additionally, free sites will be limited to 5 MB of storage space. These changes will not take place on existing sites until September 17, 2001. If you are currently over the 5 MB free site limit, you will have one month to decide if you want to upgrade your site to a Premium Site. If you decide not to upgrade your site, you will be unable to add any new content to your site beyond the 5 MB limit other than through the Online Family Tree. >> Become your site's sponsor and upgrade to a Premium Site today http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=premsite ---------------------------------------- Special Promotion for Existing Members - Upgrade now and get twice the space! As a special incentive to upgrade your site now, we are offering an additional 100 MB of storage space for the first 2,000 sites that are upgraded to a Premium Site or who purchase additional space. This means you will be receiving a Premium Site with 200 MB of storage space for only $19.95 per year! When your site membership is renewed, it will also be renewed with the same amount of bonus space. >> Become your site's sponsor and upgrade to a Premium Site today http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=premsite ---------------------------------------- Special Bonus for Ancestry.com Subscribers Annual subscribers to Ancestry.com will receive a Premium Site at MyFamily.com for free as long as they subscribe to Ancestry.com. I have been wondering where the info about the new site limit and charges came from as I don't recall receiving such a notice. I just carefully reviewed my MyFamily Site and finally found a notice at the bottom of my page which said I had gone over my limit also. I then found that they offer subscribers to the Ancestry site a free upgrade. Here is the notice: Special Offer for Ancestry.com Subscribers: Annual subscribers to Ancestry.com receive a free Premium Site or Premium Site Upgrade. To receive this special offer: 1. Select the option for "Add 100 MB 200 MB ($19.95 Annually)" above. 2. Enter your Ancestry.com Username and Password below. 3. Click "Upgrade My Site!" I entered my Ancestry user name and password and now am credited with 200MBs. I haven't prices other sites, but believe it is a bargain. I did look at this site recommended in the August PC WORLD magazine as the best home page site was at www.homestead.com. It offers fairly user friendly methods to build your own site. You can see some of the results if you take the tour and some owner sites look really good. They charge 49.95 per year. I still think MyFamily site is much better for my needs and since I have a lot of time invested in it, I think I will stay with it and even if I had to pay the additional 20.00 per year, it isn't too bad. After all, there is no free lunch anymore. Hi, We have a site at phototrail. It offers 50 MB of space and it is terrific. The photos are much better quality than on myfamily.com. You can have more that one site. There are a lot of options, also. They have a sample album that you can look at. It is great. Patsy Seay

CD RW is way out in front of a Zip. It will last longer plus the ZIP technology may not be around very much longer. The Library in Salt Lake City is now working on compressed CD's , Three inch ones that will hold 2GB per. They are/or working with the leaders in data and photo storage. Hugs Connie
My CD's have very small proof pictures on the CD label. Part of the service I get from Eckerds here in Texas. Connie
I am curious about something. I save my photos on zip disks and am considering getting a CD Writer to save my photos on CD which I understand will last longer. Is this true and am better off getting a CD Writer or just stick with the Zip Drive? Thanks for any information. For those of you who get your new photographs developed and put on CD plus your negatives, Century Products and Light Impressions both now have archival sleeves where you can store your CD, the photo index, and the negatives, plus a 8.5 x 11 sleeve where you can put prints or an identification sheet all in one attached 2 page sheet. What a great way to clearly identify your negatives and know what is on your CD. Check it out. Diane

Hello, all of the good suggestions made me experiment and see what I could do. I went to my Windows Explorer program in Win 98 and opened it and displayed a list of all photos in a folder. I copied all of the files by highlighting them and clicking on the copy button. Next, I have a shareware program called ClipCachePlus described below with the download link. ClipCache is a great utility to keep on your desktop. Anytime you use the "copy" function, it is automatically stored in the Clip Cache. If you need to use it you can then click the ClipCache icon and click on the "Clean Up Text" icon. It will then present the cleaned up text in accordance with how you set it up as defaults earlier. You then close it and use your regular "Paste" command into your word processor like WordPad. You could also past it into a spreadsheet as well if you wanted to do more with it. You can now use your wordprocessor to annotate the file listing as desired. It is a lot simpler to use than my words would lead you to believe. I use it all the time to remove the carrots (>>>>) marks in front of text in e-mail messages, etc. It only takes a couple of seconds. You might want to try it. George ClipCache Plus is an easy to use and powerful clipboard extender and a whole lot more! It monitors clipboard activity and aids not only in the management of saved clips, but in cleaning up and modifying those clips in many, many useful ways. Now you can copy and store clips from emails or webpages and remove the annoying ">>>>" marks or huge gaps and spaces left when copying from webpages constructed with webtables. http://www.xrayz.co.uk/ At 10:02 AM 8/7/01 -0400, you wrote: >Hello all, > I'm not sure that this is pertinent, but there is a simple way to index >photos on a CD. >I have scanned & burned to CD about 500 images in connection with my >genealogy research and wanted a simple hard copy of the various files on >each disk. Hello all, I'm not sure that this is pertinent, but there is a simple way to index photos on a CD. I have scanned & burned to CD about 500 images in connection with my genealogy research and wanted a simple hard copy of the various files on each disk. This can be done by opening the MS program "Outlook" (comes with most win98 platforms). 1.)Open "Outlook" 2.)On left hand side is a vertical row of icons; on the bottom, click "Other". 3.)Click "My computer" 4.)Select the appropriate storage location. i.e. 3 1/2 " floppy; C drive; D drive; E drive. Up pops the file list of the entire CD or floppy that is in use. This list can be arranged in several ways..Alphabetical, file size, author, etc. Various folders can also be created here. Just create new folder and drag and drop the chosen files. When I scanned each image, I gave them names depending upon the family name, followed by first name, date , or initial. That way , folders can be created for each family, and the file name can be as long as is necessary to describe the file. Then hit "Print" and you have a hard copy to view. George
