Thank you for the tips in helping me try to identify this photo. I did order the book from Family Chronicle, so I hope it can help me further...I have a suspicion now also, after looking at it again and reading your posts, that it must be circa 1900....the poses are so unlike the 1920s...I also noticed alot of big bows and I seem to remember that as being turn of the century also. So it is possible that this is some Swedish play and not German? What are the clues that point in this direction? So my ancestor was in Germany performing a Swedish play? How interesting. Photo again: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=586598&a=4283760&p=56995155&Sequence=0&res=high Raquel
I will venture to guess turn of last century c1900 .. possibly 1910 .. notice the way the people mostly look away from the camera ,, and the closeness of some of the individuals leaning on one another and arm in arm ... I have seen this type pose in many 19th/ 20th turn of the century photos ...

Raquel, >From looking at the photo it does look to be some sort of theatrical play photo. From the style of cloths I would guess it is a Swedish type play at that. Sorry, that I can't tell what year that style of clothing would have been worn during the 1900s. Just my 2¢ worth on the photo. Join Now! Raquel, Since it does seem that all the folks in the photo are dressed 'in costume', trying to date the photo by looking at the clothing would be a risky business. You might have better, more reliable luck to look at the type of photo itself... there are clues given in the backing, the size of the photo, the corners and decoration on the mounting... This is a good site to learn more about it: http://www.classyimage.com/picdate.htm And this is an excellent site for comparing old clothing when it's more feasable: http://www.familychronicle.com/dating.htm Good luck! Hello all, Could someone here follow the link to the photo to help me identify the timeframe it was taken in? I am trying to figure out if this is my grandmother in the very middle (it sure looks a lot like her as a young woman) or possibly her mother or even someone else. My grandmom was born in 1912 and since this is a young woman, I would say it can't be any earlier than 1922 if it is her. I know it's hard to figure out looking at the style of clothing (at least for me and that's why I joined the list!)..looks like some kind of theatrical pose..any ideas on what that's all about? If it's great grandmom, she was born in 1885, so that would make her a young woman in about 1900 or so...does this seem more like it? Thanks for your help! http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=586598&a=4283760&p=56995155&Sequence=0&res=high Raquel Researching the Horsch Family from Hohenhaslach and the Joos Family from Meimsheim and near Freiburg
----- Original Message ----- From: Cridge Porcelain Studio To: connilee@pulse.net Sent: 29 November, 2001 14:06 Subject: Photos Dear Connie, The only way I know of to adhere a photo to our porcelain is through a process called Die Sublimation. The porcelain must be chemically treated in order to achieve the result you're looking for. Most of our customers using this process have the treatment done by a company called Cactus Coating in Colorado. I hope this helped. Regards, Victoria Phoenix Manager, The Cridge Porcelain Studio

My Mom painted many nice jewelry pieces that would easily adapt to a photo. Cridge is one company with a web site that you might go to and ask. Also I think you can print a photo on decal paper and then fire it on the porcelain for a very permanent effect. Any ceramic shop would do the firing for you. This Morning I informed you of a concern we all should have regarding protecting ourselves against BADTRANS worm, computer virus.. I would like to ask you now if you have any additional comments regarding the subject, you send them to me personally. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please do not post the names of those you feel you have received infected postings from or their e-mail address. If you received an infected posting from a member of any of the lists I take care of, most likely I did too and I am taking care of it behind the scenes. I thank you for your help with this and appreciate your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members We are experiencing another outbreak of the BADTRANS worm, computer virus. I've received over 25 messages with it myself this weekend. The subject line will be varied but the infected attachments have a double extension, for example .doc.pif or .doc.scr You can go to http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/ or http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ to obtain more information. Please keep your anti virus software updated and DO NOT download unexpected attachments no matter who they are from or how tantalizing the subject line may be. "The Docs I Promised" just may be the virus. I apologize for breaking my own rule regarding Virus Warnings, but felt in this case it was important that you were aware. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Hello Listers, I submitted the following letter in the hope someone could help me date and understand what more my pictures (with no names) could tell me. Hello Listers, suggested that I put my old pictures on line and submit them to different areas to see if someone recognized them. It occurred to me that if I ask this list to kindly look at the photographs, someone may be able to tell me more about the pictures themselves. Some are tin types, others photographs in studios etc. I am so ignorant about how to date these pictures. http://albums.photopoint.com/ my email address: dulcefeliz@hotmail.com Thank you for any suggestions. Happy Thanksgiving! Saphronia
Hello List, A very nice person at the library suggested that I ask how to get in touch with any one of the Photography Studios listed below. It would be amazing that I could connect with someone that could access information on a business that must be one hundred and fifty years old.
