Several weeks ago I offered everyone on the list the opportunity to express their personal opinion to me, by private e-mail, concerning whether or not we should include "chat" in our postings or only allow factual genealogical date to be posted. We maintain a membership of 110 people on the average. I only received 16 replies to this survey. The overwhelming majority of those that replied share the same opinion - that "chat" SHOULD BE ALLOWED. Several of these people have strongly suggested that when posting "chat" or other non-factual items, we should identify these in the Subject line of our message. This would allow those persons not interested in the chat to simply delete the message unread. I think that we could all make better use of our postings. USE THE SUBJECT LINE on all posts. Keep it simple! Example: "John Vick, 1840's, GA" or "CHAT-Beautiful weather in Florida". We have an extremely small list membership compared to most surname lists. Let's keep up the camaraderie and keep everything on a friendly basis while attempting to do the sometimes "boring" work of extracting names, dates, and facts about our ancestors. I welcome all comments about my administration of this list. Please send them to me privately at jordans@rose.net and do not post them to the list. Than you, Linda Fiddie
