    1. RE: [VICK-L] Lucy Who ?
    2. BOB VICK
    3. Di Ann, I know people like me should not jump in to prime time genealogy, and this may have been discussed before. I can imagine me having an original thought during tax season. Is it possible that Lucy Council was Joseph's daughter? If he lost his wife at the birth of Lucy, he would not have a daycare around the corner. The giving of 50 acres by Hodges Council is something hard for me to comprehend. I know that sometimes in our day land is leased free with guaranteed improvements as collateral. This would be a logical explanation to improve the value of the land before Lucy received it. However, the close bond with the Councils seems to establish a better bond that many Vick's had with other Vick's. The only explanation for the trust of wills and deeds between these to families seems to be the common "Lucy" name. Since there is only a 6-year difference in the estimated Lucy's births, an adoption would be a possibility. Before I continue, I will send this directly to you and you can decide if you would like to discuss this with the list, or you can reply with an understood "no way" and I will accept your more educated judgment. God Bless, Bob - K Our daughter Kayla is adopted so the reason for the possibly clouded judgment. -----Original Message----- From: Di Ann Vick [mailto:davick@bellatlantic.net] Sent: March 14, 2000 10:19 To: VICK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [VICK-L] Apology Jim -- I've made the same mistake. In fact, I made a similar mistake in responding to your original message. I thought I was putting a message on Vick-L and actually sent it to Bob Vick privately. However, it is still a message that I do want to get to the list: Almost everyone bearing the Vick surname with southern or lower midwestern roots, black or white, shares a common ancestry. We are cousins; family. The deeper you dig into Vick history, the clearer the picture becomes, and it is not a comfortable one.
