Please read it. Lynda Suffridge, President Arkansas Genealogical Society --part1_3b.1ad10eb.25eedc2d_boundary Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-Path: <cynthia.fox@arch1.nara.gov> Received: from rly-za04.mx.aol.com (rly-za04.mail.aol.com [172.31.36.100]) by air-za05.mail.aol.com (v69.17) with ESMTP; Wed, 01 Mar 2000 12:44:59 -0500 Received: from nara.gov (smtp.nara.gov [198.76.129.52]) by rly-za04.mx.aol.com (v69.17) with ESMTP; Wed, 01 Mar 2000 12:44:30 -0500 Received: from NARA-Message_Server by nara.gov with Novell_GroupWise; Wed, 01 Mar 2000 12:44:28 -0500 Message-Id: <s8bd10ac.035@nara.gov> X-Mailer: Novell GroupWise 5.2 Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2000 12:43:00 -0500 From: "Cynthia Fox" <cynthia.fox@arch1.nara.gov> To: LSuffri493@aol.com Subject: Recent posting regarding proposed fee schedule at NARA Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline Ms Suffridge: I understand that you have a posting on the web regarding the= proposed fee schedule change at NARA. There is a critical piece of informa= tion missing from your posting. Our proposal regarding the duplication of p= ension applications includes a radical change in how we process the requests= . We are proposing to end the practice of selecting the 14 to 20 pages of "= most useful" information. We are proposing to provide the researchers with=20= complete copies of the entire pension application file in response to their=20= first request. We believe that this will be a significant improvement in se= rvice. We will eliminate the requirement that a researcher engage in a seco= nd transaction and the associated waiting period in order to complete their=20= research. This proposal is part of a draft proposed fee schedule which will= be published in the Federal Register. The Federal Register is available on= line at www.nara.gov. I do not know when the draft proposal will be publish= ed but, once announced, public comment is encouraged. =20 CYNTHIA G.
