The county courthouse is the normal first spot to research. However, all the old county records are now in the North Carolina Archives in Raleigh. Also, I have just discovered the wonderful abstracts Timothy W. Rackley is publishing. He's doing the deeds, marriages, court records, voting registrations -- the whole 9 yards. I've checked his work against original records and he is totally reliable. In fact, he has been honored by the North Carolina Genealogical Society for his efforts. I've purchased just about everything he's done on Nash County and feel that I have a gold mine right here in the comfort of my office. His address is Timothy W.
