I really wanted to find somebody that would take some pictures of the Arthur and Vick gravestones in and near Lufkin, TX. Jim, I'm not ruling out photographing tombstones. I have a step-daughter who lives about 30 miles north of Lufkin. We don't get up there very often, though, and certainly not until after the next hurdle - big wedding in June. If you could furnish me with names and approximate locations of cemeteries, perhaps I can help you this summer. When I made my first genealogy field trip last fall, all my pictures were of tombstones. My son-in-law asked why I only took pictures of tombstones<grin>. If the bug hasn't bitten you, you just don't understand. I doubt we're related until the lines merge in Virginia. My Vicks left Virginia around 1800 and settled in western Kentucky. My mom is the only person in our Vick line who came to Texas - and that was relatively recently in 1962. Funny how genealogy changes your perspective of "recent." My trip last fall netted great pictures from the Vick cemetery in Livingston County, Kentucky - one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever been. As far as the Texas State Archives go, just give me something specific to look up ... Pat Wilson (great granddaughter of James Arthur and Ora Barnes Vick)
