    3. Dear VICK cousins, I am tired of reading your complaints and comments about your weather. You don't know how lucky you have it! You think you have it bad? Just try to imagine living where the sun shines almost every day, where the average annual rainfall is only 12 inches, where the temperature most afternoons during the past month have been in the low-to-mid 70s and at night it drops to a chilly 55 or 60. Can you imagine anything more boring? No winter, no fall...just spring and summer, spring and summer...wearing summer clothes, even shorts, all year long. Oh, the horror and pain of it! We are expecting a bit of rain and a cold wave this weekend. The weather people on television are warning that it might get as cold as 65 in the day time! People are rushing to get their fire wood and their mink coats out of storage. (No kidding, there are more fireplaces in homes here than anywhere I've ever seen, and the few people who own one do wear their furs at 60-65 degrees, otherwise they would never get to wear them here). Now please don't cry for me or send expressions of sympathy. I've lived here for almost 30 years and I am acclimated to it. Besides, I am of hardy VICK stock, of the Tennessee VICKs, which helps me to deal with these adverse weather conditions. With fondest regards, I am your Beverly Hills cousin, and publisher of the hopefully soon to be released book about our ancestor, JOSEPH, James B.
