Mazie Lawson Via, 86, of Via Farm Lane, Patrick Springs, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at her home. She was born January 12, 1919 in Patrick County to the late Abie H. and Bessie Nelson Lawson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, three brothers and a stepgrandson. She was a homemaker and was a member and past president of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a past president of the PTA and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she had held many positions. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Willie F. Via of the home; two daughters, Mary Paige Via of Williamsburg and Elizabeth Via Kolinski of Patrick Springs; three sons, Clyde Nelson, Warren Nelson and Wilford Nelson; two sisters, Lorene L. Lawrence of Spencer and Carroll E. Lawson of Stuart; one brother, Lowell H. Lawson of Stuart; one granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren and many other extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Critz Baptist Church cemetery.
