Family lore, assumptions, etc. I believe are important parts of our research as long as we issue the disclaimer that some is theory, lore and so forth. For example the book I wrote. I did not personally document every line in the book. I did document the early lines fairly well but still had to make some assumptions. And with family lore I like to hear these because many times it qives us clues where to search for documentation. The one thing I do not like (when Family Tree Maker first came out I submitted some of my family lines unfortunately) is when trees are posted on the internet with no comments and/or explanations stating if there is documentation or not. Many, many people take these things as gospel and spread incorrect information. I learned early not to post trees to areas that cannot be update or corrected. On the other hand however it's important to us to keep our minds open and be receptive to new data especially if we are working on assumptions. Judy
