Good Morning!!! Judy, you may have found a real clue. Since William Sneed Via's mother was a Smith, then perhaps his one of his grandmothers was a Sneed. His grandfather William Via was married to a Sarah (I have no last name for her-do you?). The Sneed family of the White Hall area lived just south of the Barracks. One of the Rev. papers of a Maupin stated "he signed up close to Sneads". Have worked with a Maupin Descendant who was working on these Sneads. Now if I can just find her and ask if there was a Sarah Snead Via in that line. The place the Sneads would have lived is around Ivy Creek and close to the (now) town or place called Ivy on the map.
