My understanding of the Maupin family tradition is that the objection to the marriage of Peggy Via and Daniel Maupin by Gabriel Maupin, was that Peggy Via's father had been a lowly forester to the Maupins in France. Does anyone know about this? I think it may have come from Socrates Maupin. ~~Edna Barney ~*~*~*~ 'Ye are the true keepers of the stories, and so long as yet one of ye live and breathe, so shall a bit of me...
