State of Virginia County of Franklin On this 31st day of October A.D. 1885, personally appeared before me, Geo D. Peters, Judge of the County Court of Franklin, Jackson Via, age 55 years, height, 5 ft 8 inches, complexion fair, a resident of Franklin, in the State of Virginia, who, being duly sworn, deposes and says, that he was regularly enlisted in the Confederate States army. I am satisfied that from the evidence before me the applicant comes within the provisions of Article 11 of the Regulations governing the Home for Ex Confederate Soldiers. B, 36th Va Infantry Date & Place of Discharge: was a Captain in prison at Surrender That while in the service aforesaid, and while in the line of my duty; during my enlistment, I was disabled at Fort Donaldson and has no use of my lower limbs, and in consequence thereof am not able to get about without assistance. Jackson Via, Applicant I further swear that I served honorably during the war, and have borne a good character since; and I further stipulate and agree that I will abide by and obey all the rules and regulations made by the Board of Visistors, or by their order; that I will perform all the duties required of me, and obey all lawful orders of the Officers of the Home.
