    1. Hanover and Henrico Vias
    2. Dear Judy, I'm so happy that you are interested in the Hanover Via families. It has been a lonely research project especially because I have had no one with whom I can discuss ideas and theories. I do know my Hanover Vias, especially until about 1880, but fresh thoughts and exchanges are so welcome. I am in a state of confusion about why Carter Via and Louisiana Via's marriage bonds were published in Henrico. Of course they lived near the Henrico line, although the Henrico Courthouse is in Richmond. Louisiana's mother, Mary, died about the time Louisina was 20 (1827/8), and Louisiana was considered a minor at that time. Her father had died some years earlier. Samuel Quay, an attorney in Henrico, was appointed her guardian, not because of her tender years but because she would inherit a small parcel of land that had been her father's, a descendant of the original Robert whose land it had been. I just realized that Fanny Ann and Robert Via's children were closely related to Louisiana. Robert would have been Louisiana's great grandfather; her grandfather (recipient of the deed of gift) would have been the half brother of the Fanny Ann/Robert children. As far as I know, Louisiana, whose father was a Robert also, had one brother perhaps whose name was Mitchell (see marriage record for Mitchell and Dicey Via). Anyhow, if I can help you with any of the Hanover Via data, please let me know. I am always happy to share with a serious Via researcher. We must discuse sometime whether or not you think Amor's wife was Mary or Margaret based on Chamberlayne's transcription. I tend to think it was Mary based on Chamberlayne's other abbreviations. Janelle
