Everything, unless noted, took place in Amherst. Using Via just to simplify matters. I've only been able to take this line back to Mathew Via, b. Abt 1812 m. Sarah Carter from Buckingham County, Va. Mathew and Sarah had a son, Louis Andrew Via, Sr., b. 11/11/1853 m. Demaris "Mary" Louise Vest, b. Abt 1857 in Buckingham Co., Va. Wondering if your man William is a brother to my Louis? Or perhaps cousins?? I love this man Louis Andrew Via, Sr. He was in the Civil War from beginning to end. When he applied for pension the question was asked why he left the war and his response was, "Because Lee surrendered." Per Judy Pons...if we can establish a relationship between the William H. Via (married Patsy Via), we can establish where my Mathew Via fits into this line. Thank you for responding! Let's keep in touch! Brenda Clark Charlottesville, VA
