Edna, I know that my ancestor, Louisiana Via, who married Carter Via in 1828, was descended from Robert Via II (who married, probably secondly, Fanny Ann Ingram) through his son, Robert Via III (probably not son of Fanny Ann) of the deed of gift, through his son, Robert Via IV. However, Louisiana is female, of course, therefore lacking the Y chromosome. I know of one brother she had, but he didn't have a son. Fanny Ann and Robert Via II had son or sons; if you know of any living male descendants of this couple's son(s), their DNA should be a match for Robert Via II. Carter Via was the grandson of Littleberry Via (father was Josias Via, not Josiah Via), so, as I understand it, the male descendants of Robert Via II, Littleberry Via, Josiah Via and Gideon Via, all of Hanover, should have the same DNA. My interpretation based on the best evidence I have seen, know of and have researched is that these four men were brothers and the sons of Robert Via I, son of Amor/Amer Via. Carter Via and his wife, Louisiana Via, had son, Andrew Jackson Via among other sons, who had son Walter Turner Via among other sons, who had Roy Daniel Via (my father) among other sons. My direct male line dies out with my father's generation. My grandfather had six sons, but none of them had sons, and only two of them had three daughters between them. Carter Via had three sons, Andrew Jackson, Harrison and Edward, but only AJ had male living descendants. He had three sons, James Archer Via, Willie Jackson Via and my grandfather, Walter Turner Via. I believe the DNA that you are assuming is the same as Littleberry's comes from a male descendant of James Archer Via. I sent that descendant's wife and you among others the direct line from James Archer Via to Andrew Jackson Via to Carter Via to Josias Via to Littleberry Via to Robert Via I to Amor/Amer Via. Do you know if any of the male descendant sons of Josiah Via or Gideon Via (of Hanover) are participating in the Via DNA project? Both of the men had sons as we know. James Gilson was a descendant of Edmund Via, son of Gideon. I know that Josiah Via had at least one son, who was Caleb. There were probably others. Janelle
