Allen Franklin Via (http://www.legacy.com/dailyprogress/Guestbook.asp?Page=GuestBook&PersonID=18211309) Allen Franklin Via, 81, of Charlottesville died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born March 18, 1925, in Albemarle County, he was the son of the late Walter Samuel Via and Lottie Sandridge Via. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Wayland Via; two daughters, Teresa Lynn Stein and her husband, William, of Rochester, New York and Kimberly Wayland Via of Glen Allen, Virginia; three sisters, Anne Via Wayland of Charlottesville, Nancy Via Shipp (James Early) of Troy, and Beverly Via Wagner (Ralph) of Waynesboro; one brother, Walter Dabney Via (Nancy) of Crozet; and a number of nieces and nephews. Allen was employed by H.M. Gleason Company, the University of Virginia, and Monticello Foundation. He was an usher for the University of Virginia athletic events. He faithfully served as a church deacon, choir member, and in many other service ministries. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Lindsay Sadler officiating. Interment will follow in Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p..m, Friday, June 23, 2006, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
