    3. Dorothy Elizabeth Downey Via, 87, of Low Moor, Va., died Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Arrangements by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The Roanoke Times, Published on 06/01/2006 Dorothy Elizabeth Downey Via, 87, of 9803 Rich Patch Road, Low Moor, Virginia, died, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1919 in Alleghany County, a daughter of Frank Alexander and Hettie Montgomery Downey. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Low Moor Presbyterian Church, where she was very active. She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Via of the residence in Low Moor; one son, James Franklin Via and wife, Lou of Auburndale, FL.; five grandchildren, Debbie Haywood and husband, Billy, Tammy Hughett and husband, Nathaniel, Jamie Via and wife, Carrie, Cheryl Sivis and Steven Sivis; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Randolph Via, Sr.; one daughter, Merle Via; one son, Harry "Pete" Randolph Via, Jr.; three sisters and four brothers. In keeping with her requests, her body was c! remated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The daughter will receive friends at the residence. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Low Moor Presbyterian Church, 204 Old Church Road, Low Moor, Va. 24457. Emma Mae "Agnes" Fridley Via, 80, of 629 N. Augusta Ave., Covington, Virginia, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, December 9, 2005 at her residence. She was born on January 12, 1925 in Nitro, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Walter T. and Stella Mae McDaniel Fridley. She had worked for H. O. Canfield in Iron Gate for a number of years. She was a homemaker devoting herself and her time as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church of Covington. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Marvin J. Via of Covington; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Herbert "Ted" Simmons, Jr. of Covington; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jack and Brenda Persinger of Covington and James M. "Jamie" Brown, Jr. of Clifton Forge; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Dreama and Charles Finney of Berryville and Jane and Ronnie Sexton of Oak Hill, West Virginia; one step son, Gregory E. Via of Covington; one sister, Virgi! nia "Toad" Wilmer of Clifton Forge; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Margaret Fridley of Rich Patch; eleven grandchildren, Katrina Maddy, Jill Paige Hatcher, Kimberly Stephenson, Pam Wilmer, Lori Perry, Ronnie Wilmer, Shawn Persinger, Jay Persinger, Kristie Schultz, Jamie "Eagle" Brown and Matthew Pennington; seventeen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula J. Wilmer; one son, James "Tommy" Persinger and one brother, James "Chink" Fridley. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2005 at 3:00 PM at Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Knick, Stanley Nicely, Jay Persinger, Eric Schultz, Jackie Fridley and Ray Wilmer, II. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and other times at the residence, ! 629 N. Augusta Ave., Covington. Mrs. Via was born on October 15, 1934 at Beckley, West Virginia a daughter of Arbutus Tyree Toney of Beckley, West Virginia and the late Sid B. Toney. She was a retired Register Nurse from the Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor with forty four years of service and after her retirement she worked as a school nurse for the local school system and was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Clifton Forge. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Chalmer "Hank" Louis Via; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory Louis and Vicki Via of Chicago, Illinois and Todd Franklin and Amy Via of Hot Springs, VA; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Joe Guzello of Port Washington, New York, Emma and Clyde Martin of Clifton Forge, Rebecca and Paul Bouffard of Rhode Island, Nancy and Dennis Davis of Mansfield, Ohio and Margaret Baldridge of Charlotte, Nor! th Carolina; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Jane Toney of Miami, Florida, John and Judy Toney of Beckley and Troy and Cathy Toney both of Beckley, West Virginia and David Toney of Mt. Hope, West Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Evans of Manassas, VA, Nancy and Paul Norvell of Iron Gate and Patsy and Bob Dyer of Norfolk, VA; three grandchildren, Kristin Via of Chicago, Illinois and Dylan and Kara Via both of Covington, VA; twenty one nieces and nephews and special friends Dr. Wallace and Marguerite Nunley. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A M Tuesday, December 18, 2001 from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Rev. John Carrier officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Friends may pay their respects anytime on Monday at Nicely Funeral Home, 405 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Nicely Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
