William, I am not sure what new evidence you have uncovered, but I have actually held and read the hand-written note of Zachariah Garrison granting permission for his daughter to marry Samuel Harris. Just to make sure my hand-written notes were not in error I went back to the standard "green marriage books" for Albemarle Co. and they confirm my own notes as follows: HARRIS, Samuel & Catherine Garrison 24 Oct l8l8; [Marr. Reg., l860-1868, fol. 23] b-Achilles Garrison wit- William Wertenbaker d- Zachariah Garrison, who gives his consent s- Wiley Harris, who gives his consent wit- Blake Harris & Achilles Garrison [B/C Papers, 1818-24] The abbreviations are: b- bondsman d- daughter of s- son of wit- witness Other evidence has indicated that Catherine's middle name was White, but I have never been able to tie any of her ancestry into the actual White family.
