    3. Thanks Judy. I missed the generation of John Via in my first message and tried to correct the mistake but you were too quick for me. (grin) Appreciate your comments and will continue to look for documentation addressing the parents of David Via. Just found the surname and parents of a female ancestor in North Carolina after over 15 years of searching so there is hope. That will keep me going for awhile.... as if I needed a reason to continue this fascinating pursuit. (grin) Appreciate your help. This William Via was shown as son of Amer Via and Margaret "Elizabeth" Spencer. Is this accurate? Rae Jean, In looking at that web site it looks to me like they are saying David was the son of John Via and Mary Powhatan. My only thoughts are: I don't know of any documentation that places David Via who married Frances Stringer in any Via line yet. I show six known children for David Via and Frances Stringer: William, Gideon, David, Elizabeth, Mildred and Robert. The web site you cited has the same with the exception of Reuben in place of Robert. The court records of Augusta clearly show the names I provided as children of David and/or Frances Via. It is interesting to see Reuben placed as another child. The only mention I've seen of a Reuben in that time era was in relation to service in the Rev War. If Reuben belongs in this line he was old enough at the time of David's death that he was not bound out as were the other children. I also noticed this same site has Margaret Peggy Via, daughter of Amer Via and Margaret "Elizabeth" Spencer as marrying Thomas Crease. TOTALLY INACCURATE!! The best statement I can make at this time in regards to this information is "keep on searching." Judy
