Buddy, I have not seen this book. The (6 V.R.) etc is the Regiment but what are the abbreviations such as W.D.133,1 mean? As far as I know there was only 1 Gideon that went to Ohio and that was the son of David Via (evidenced by deeds from his step-father and his mother). I have been frustrated in my search for Gideon son of John who served in the Revolution. You may be correct in that he died early. There is Gideon (brother of John b. 1710???) who declared in a deposition that he was born in 1730. We know he lived until at least 1814 the date of the deposition. There were Gideon's in Hanover County. The Benjamin cited was black or of mixed race. I have not been able to find any additional info on Reuben other than his War record (haven't found a pension for him either) and no other records. Without seeing the book I cannot comment on the S of W. Judy
