Milford C. Lacy Milford C. Lacy, 82, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Charles-ton Area Medical Center following a long illness. Born Oct. 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mazie VIA Lacy. Mr. Lacy was retired from Slab Fork Coal Co. with over 40 years of service. Milford was a member of Mabscott Christian Baptist Church. He was a Mason, belonging to Coal City Lodge No. 156. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Milford was very active in Little League Baseball and an avid fisherman. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved spending time with all of them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lillian Hazel Lacy, and a brother, Forest Lacy. Those left behind to cherish his memory include three sons, Terry Lacy of Nimitz, Kenneth Lacy and wife, Rebecca, of Meadow Bridge and Dennis Lacy and wife, Dinah, of Sophia; a daughter, Brenda Testerman and husband, Ray, of Midway; two brothers, Tracy Lacy and wife, Ruth, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Glen Lacy of Speedwell, Va.; a sister, Phyllis Street of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 147 Virginia St., Sophia, with Pastor Doug Holley and Associate Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Peace, Beckley. Masonic rites will be conducted by Lodge No. 156. Military rites will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110. Grandsons and great-grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may gather with the family 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
