In response to Jim's question: I talked to the Via researcher Harold Via in St. Petersburg, FL in about 1967. At that time, he told me there were two Via brothers and a sister that immigrated to Virginia from France. Has anyone been able to review his research papers to verify or discount his statement? Jim Via Jim, I, too, have a copy of a family tree that was done by Harold Via from FLA back in the 60's/70's. I wasn't born until 1968 so this was done my one of my cousins along the line & it was passed on to me a number of years ago. It stated that my line went to Nelson County & the school records from the Mills School District showed all my relatives. My line is as follows: Thomas Nicholas Via b. 09.26.1879 (my G-Grandfather) d. 06.05.1925 Charles Nicholas Via(r) b. 1850 (my GG-Grandfather) d. ??? Now here's where it gets tricky...according to the Mills School District AND to Harold Via, Charles' father was Nicholas Viar. However, the census results I have show "W & S VIAR" on record. It is handwritten, however, therefore it could be anything! Notes show Nicholas Viar marrying Ann Nichodemus. They were married on 05.16.1844 in Lynchburg, VA. I have a copy of the Marriage License as well. Funny thing is, there is NO Nicholas Viar ANYWHERE to be found in ANY census records I've ever seen! Nor has anyone on this list EVER mentioned one on this digest!!! He's a Rogue Via!!! Chris
