Becky: I have been trying to sort out and place 2 or 3 Gideons. I was wondering if your ancestor Gideon may have served in the Revolution. Would his age be right to place him in the war. In the book "Index to Revolutionary War Service Records" there are these Gideons are listed. VIA, Gidion, served as pvt in Taylors Va Regt Gideon, served as Sgt in Va Troups, card #5826 roll 53 VIAH Gideon ser as Pvt in 6th Va Regt Gideon ser as Pvt in 10th Va Regt. also see 6th Va Regt. I believe that the Gideons serving in Taylors, 6th and 10th Va regts are the same person, This Gideon would be son of John Via b abt 1710,and was born in 1755. He moved to Gallio, Ohio, filed for his pension in Ohio with name VIAH and died and buried in Ohio. I can not identify the Sgt Gideon Via. Is he the same as the other Gideons and one person. The card # 5826 roll 53 may solve the identity. I am not sure where to obtain this card # 5826. Can you help. THANKS Buddy
