We know John born about 1710 had a son Gideon. Not only was Gideon mentioned in deeds pertaining to John's land but there is info on his service during the Revolution. "A Muster Roll of Capt James Burtons Company in the Regiment of Guards at the Barracks in Albemarle County Commanded by Colonel Francis Taylor for the months of March, April, May, June, and July 1780..... Privates: John Via Feby 18 enlisted from Amherst Gideon Via Feby 15 enlisted from Amherst Littleberry Via Mar 18 enlisted from Amherst But after Gideon sold the land he inherited from his father (sold it in 1795) I cannot find him in any other records. There is a Gideon that I believe may be the same in the personal property tax list for Buckingham County in 1796. I believe the elder Gideon was levy free. Anyway after 1796 I cannot find Gideon again. So it's very frustrating not to be able to find him after 1796!! Judy
