They weren't there in 1850 and as Janelle mentioned they were back in Hanover by 1861. I think maybe they joined a relative that had gone to Albemarle to learn the wagon making trade. Their father died in 1856 so I would guess that's about the time they went to Albemarle and then back to Hanover by 1861. Judy

    3. I believe I saw a book in the Albemarle Court House having to do with apprenticeships. How about checking the personal property taxes for the 1856-1861 years.
