Michelle, I am so glad to see your e-mail. I have been trying to work on this line. The 1850 Franklin Co., census show a John Via Jr. with wife Nancy, children Amanda, Madison, Lorenia, Mary J., Sparrel, and unnamed female. I believe the census taker made an error in showing John Via Jr. I believe this to be the family of Peter Via. Peter married Margaret Martin in 1833. He married Nancy Justice in 1845. I believe William, Amanda, Madison, Lorenia or Lavinia, were the children of Peter and Margaret. The children Mary J., Sparrel, Nancy Adaline, George Washington, David and Sally were the children of Peter and Nancy Justice Via. The reason I believe this census record to be in error is because I cannot find marriage or death certificates to place any of these names as children of John Via Jr. I can however find these documents placing some of these as children of Peter. William is a son of Peter's and Margaret. He was the one arrested for killing his father in 1854. Amanda is listed as a daughter of Peter and Margaret on her marriage certificate. Sparrel is listed as a son of Peter on his marriage certificate. As is Nancy Adaline, George Washington, and Sally Via. David is listed as a son of Peter and Nancy in the Franklin County Birth Index. I believe Peter was the son of Josias Via but do not have documentation to prove this relationship. Judy
