John Robert Daughtry was a grandson of Thomas Medley Ballard & Sarah Jane Via. John Robert Daughtry, sixty-four son of the late John H. and Mary Frances Daughtry, died at his home near Doylesville, Albemarle County, on Dec. 16 at two p.m. after a lingering illness of two years. He was one of that community's best liked citizens. Surviving are his widow, who was Miss Sara Katherine Wood, and the following sons and daughters; Sidney W. of Waynesboro, and Robert B., Joe P., and Sarah all at home; these brothers and sisters, Henry T. and William D. Daughtry of Moormans River, and Mrs. Chas. W. Via of Mt. Sidney, and Mrs. Wiley Wood of New Hope. The funeral procession left the home Saturday at two p.m., services being held from Mt. Moriah M. E. church, South, at White Hall, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Tinsman, pastor of the deceased, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Hagar of the Methodist church. Pallbearers were Raleigh Via, Robert Maupin, Homer Wood, Kenneth Wood, William Wood, and Waynesboro, Dec. 17 --- Five Way-nieces of the deceased, were Misses Verdie Via, Sarah Wood, Mattie Crickenberger, Liza Maupin, Ethel Maupin, and Mrs. Celestine Foley, Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Moriah church.
