Bobby Lee Viar Sr., 59, of Madison Heights, went to meet the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 38 wonderful years, Betty Jean Martin Viar of Madison Heights. Born Jan. 5, 1946, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Mary Frances Hill Viar. The Rev. Viar was a Holiness Minister for 30 years and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby J. Martin Sr.; and by his loving grandmother, Virgie Viar Woodall. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Bobby Lee Viar Jr. and wife, Serena of Amherst, Peter Antonio Viar and girlfriend, Cindy Cooper of Lynchburg, Ira Nathan Viar and wife, Gail of Evington; two daughters, Stacey Marie Viar Hall and husband, Steve and Virgie Renee Viar Rutherford and husband, Jack both of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Wendy, Josh and Matthew Viar, Luke, Crystal and Coty Hall, Patrick Viar and William Moore; three brothers, Danny Wayne Viar of Lynchburg, George T. Martin Jr. of Blue Ridge and William P. Martin of Evington; three sisters, Martha O. Woods and husband, Bobby of Summerville, S.C., Ruby Arlene Burbage and husband, Jimmy of Dorchester, S.C., and Barbara M. Hart and husband, Billy of Amherst; his mother-in-law, Mattie Hudson; three sisters-in-law, Louise Leonard and husband, Frank, Kathy Hancock and husband, Hanna and Patricia Moore and husband, Brian; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Hudson and wife, Susan and Wayne Hudson. He was a very loving person, who cared about everyone's needs before himself. He was the best husband a wife could ever ask for, a very loving and devoted husband and father. He loved Jesus and looked forward to meeting him someday. You will be missed - but never forgotten. Love, your wife and kids. A graveside service, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Tree of Life Cemetery by the Rev. James W. Morris. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel and at other times at the residence, 381 Tanglewood Drive, Madison Heights.
