Hi Everyone, I am Very glad to say we have another NEW member in our YDNA Via Surname Project. Clifford Andrew Via, his family line comes from Amer's son Robert Via I. This is Clifford's family line: James Harce Via - Andrew Jackson Via - James "Jim" Archer Via - Andrew Jackson Via - Carter Via - Josiah Via - Littleberry Via - Robert Via I - William Amos "Amer" Via. This is GREAT news because, four of our members comes from Amer's son, William Via Sr. and one is not sure which line YET! So, now we will have YDNA from BOTH of Amer's son's that we know of. So, if you want to see if your YDNA will match with Robert or William, this might be your only way to find out. I made my First Note Book today, (The Descendants of William Amos "Amer" Via) It is 1250 pages. So, please give me a little more time to get these Note Books out to our members of the Via Surname Project. It took over 9 hours to print it out. It's not just on the Via family line, but also the Maupin, Marshall, Sandridge, Shifflett, Harris, Sipes and many more families. We have 6 members now, WHO will be the Lucky 7? I'm a little behind getting to this e-mail, but am also related to Daniel Maupin and Margaret Via, which was indicated in a Maupin family tree traced 30 years ago (by my aunt -- a "Maupin"). To complicate matters (for me)....Alfred D. Via (my father) married Ruby Frances Maupin (my Mom) in 1940, both having been raised in the Allegheny mountains in Virginia (Covington and Clifton Forge). I think that makes me related to myself !! I will definitely try to get my hands on the Maupin book mentioned in the e-mails! This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WVUBAEB/176 Message Board Post: I just wanted to let everyone know that I just became a Group Administor for the Via Surname Project for the Family Tree DNA. I have been reading about the Family Tree DNA for about two years or more. And I thought is was time for the Via's to get in the Project. So I volunteer for the job. It is for ALL the different spellings of Via, we are ALL on the same family tree. Now we can prove it with DNA! Here is the website address: http://www.familytreedna.com/ Please, check it out when you have time. Their is a lot of information on this site. I really liked the part of the Testimonials which is on top of the home page. You can Click on Testimonials and read them, then you can Click on Surname Video which is on the right side of the page. It is in 4 parts, I have watch it three times now and I'm sure I will watch it again. It talks about how DNA can help us on our family tree. If you go back to the home page, you will see (Over 2,000 Surname Projects) If you Click on that, you will see V27, that means 27 Surname Projects has been started with the letter V. When you Click on V27, you will see surnames starting with V. If you Click on Via, then you will see the START of the Via Surname Project. And you can Click on the My Website too, http://www.familytreedna.com/ But, please remember I just started this Project 4 days ago, so I don't have much there yet! My brother is the FIRST to order his DNA test for the Via family tree. I think it takes about 6 to 8 weeks to get the results. So, I just have one member as of today. But, don't be like me and take two years or more to join. And for the female who are Via's like me, you will need a male family member to join, to get the Via Y-DNA that is pass from father to son, so please ask a brother, father, uncle or cousin to represent your family line. I did. If you have ANY questions just email me at ElaineVia@comcast.net and I'll do my best to answer them. Elaine =^..^=_
