I have asked Uncle Arnold to join so I can also get the DNA on my Grandmother's side of the family. The male family members can use his Y & X chromosomes for his family line. The X chromosomes gives information on his Mother's side of the family. It is a different test, it is called, Mitochondria - mtdna test. 3. Hi All, This has probaby been asked and answered before, however I have just recently discovered my Via line and am becoming increasing confused by it : / I am related to the Via's by two different branches, Amanda Via, who married Anderson Newberry, and Sarah Via who married Thomas Newberry. Amanda and Anderson I pretty much have straight, but Sarah Via's father, John Via, is where I'm running into problems. I know that Sarah's father John Via married Sarah Wright, however I can not find the proof of John's father. The many sources that I have visited on line claims Gideon Via is John's father, however from the documentation, Rev. War Pension records, etc. It claims John was a John Via, Jr. Suggestion his father would have been a John Via Senior. Can anyone clear this up for me? I would greatly appreciate any help you could give regarding this. Thank you, Michelle
