Fanny Ann Ingram was the daughter of Alexander Ingram of Botetourt Co. and the sister of James Ingram. Alexander Ingram's 1780 WB A Will (proved 1783) names Botetourt Co.There are also Land Grants for the area of Bent Mt. in the county I believe the information about Amherst Co. was from Partial Genealogy of the Via, DeHart and other Families, by George W. Via 1926; Floyd Press Print, Floyd, Va. Fanny's daughter listed as Ann is Nancy Via. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jlmaupin@aol.com> To: <VIA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 5:48 PM Subject: Re: [VIA-L] Edmund Via > > In a message dated 11/28/2005 11:41:33 AM Pacific Standard Time, > gen42@comcast.net writes: > > <<My line is Robert Via II who married Fanny Ann Ingram. My line is Robert Via II who married Fanny Ann Ingram. I have his birth date as 1730 in Hanover Co. and his death 1788. I cannot verify these dates. Fanny Ann Ingram was born in Botetourt Co. Va. Botetourt & Hanover were not very close. Later, I found Fanny Ann Ingram Via in Patrick Co. Va. (by way of Amherst Co.). Their daughter, Nancy Via, born 1786, first married Steven Akers in 1801. He died and Nancy married Joseph Vaughan in 1808 in Franklin Co. Va. They also lived in Patrick Co. Va. Fanny died in 1795. Any information about this family is appreciated. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Janvm1030@aol.com> To: <VIA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 12:53 AM Subject: [VIA-L] Edmund Via > Judy, > > I have not been ignoring your posts containing Edmund Via data. Hi everyone, We have NEW results from Kit 45276, he had an exact matches to Kit 43766 and one marker off from Kit 45239. Which ALL of these are on the John Via family line. Kit 45276 was also one maker off from Kit 41120, Kit 41915, Kit 43157, Kit 43838. And these are ALL Albemarle family lines. So, that is a GOOD sign that John Via b. 1710 is connected to Amer Via in some way. I think the more man we get to join our project, the more connections we will find. Please, check out our results: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/ViaSurnameProject/ Sincerely, Elaine =^..^=
Judy, I have not been ignoring your posts containing Edmund Via data. I appreciate so much your sharing all of them. I believe that you once asked me if I knew the name of Gilson Via's father. It was Robert. Lots of help, huh? There were so many Robert Via's in Hanover, it is difficult to separate them. What brought this to memory was your posting the bit about Edmund's repairs to Dumases. Gilson Via bought and lived at "Dumases Old Plantation." I believe the purchase was after 1805. Edmund and William Via lived in the same vicinity. James inherited the land of his uncle, William, brother of Edmund. Do you remember our postings tossing around the idea [probably accurate] that Fanny Anne Via was the second wife of Robert Via, he of the deed of gift to his son, Robert Via III? I don't think I replied to you that I descend from this Robert Via's first wife through their son, Robert III who had son, John. John lived on Robert's original land and eventually inherited some of it. His daughter was Louisiana Via [my ancestor] who married Carter Via who was son of Josiah [not Josias] Via, son of Littleberry Via, brother of the second Robert Via whose second wife was Fanny Ann, all descendants of the first Robert Via. The third Robert Via in the direct line of Roberts fell off the tax lists for a decade or so and then reappeared with a wife, Elizabeth. That is unless, this is a different Robert Via. My Louisiana would have been his granddaughter, but I find little or no connection between the two [she did inherit her father, John's, land. However, Gilson seems to have been somehow connected to this Robert, probably younger son, because he inherited some of more recently purchased land by Robert in the location of Dumases old plantation. Edmund and his brother, William, lived in the same general area that was near old Bethesda Church [since burned] and Studley. The land tax records establish location and their proximity to each other. I know that Nancy Via [married John Gibson] was this Robert's daughter; Gilson was her guardian as she was underage when their father died. Oh, how I wish someone were researching all these Hanover Vias who would work with me to get relationships straightened out! It is very difficult with little extant data except for a few marriages, deeds, and those wonderful tax lists. When I commenced researching my Via family in New Kent/Hanover about 30 years ago, I was undaunted that these were designated "burned record counties." I was new and very inexperienced, and my ignorance was a big help also. I simply "knew" I could find my family. It is my contention that if you can trace your direct line for 350 years or so in a burned record county, you are prepared to research and be successful any place. It just takes patience, perseverance, and a working knowledge of history and how to use libraries and courthouses. It helps to have luck on your side also. Janelle Janelle
I have a deed for Edmund Via showing he purchased 100 acres of land on Poney swamp a branch of Potopotomony Creek in Hanover County, Virginia from Charles Talley Jr. and Elizabeth his wife on 2 November 1805. Hi everyone, We have a NEW test results on our DNA Project. Kit 45239 and Kit 43766 was off just one marker from each other. And that is GOOD NEWS! Kit 45239 & Kit 43766 are 5th cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestor is John Via b. c 1710. Kit 45239 family line comes from William Via the son of John Via. Kit 43766 family line comes from David Via Sr. the son of John Via. Kit 45276 & Kit 46438 SHOULD also match these family lines in some way. We will see when the other test results come in. Please check out the results, they are on the bottom on the website. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/ViaSurnameProject/ Elaine =^..^=

Good Afternoon Group!!! Spent some time this week at Mid-Continent and although I was working on a Maupin descendant, I looked for Vias, Viers also. Working with the Death Registers of Kansas City, MO 1874-1905. One Viers, Elisha W. Viers, born 4-8-1847 d. 6-18-1907 in Kansas City, buried in Union Cemetery, downtown K. C. He had one daughter on the death register, Mary M. Viers b. 7-1896 died 2-22-1897 (she was 9 mo. Old when she died). Does anyone recognize this family??? Will check the 1900 Census online to get additional information and will post later tonight. William
Edmund Via appears to have died in late 1829. I have copies of the inventory of his estate. It's dated January 5, 1830. His personal property was sold, total of $345.31. The only person identified as a child of Edmunds was William Via although it does make reference to William's brothers and sisters (no names given). No mention of a wife so his wife Sally Jones may have predeceased Edmund. The administrator of the estate was James Wooddy. Judy
