    1. NEW DNA RESULTS
    2. Elaine
    3. We got some Great DNA results today. Kit 45276 and Kit 43766 had an Exact match of their 37 marker test. This is Great news!! We have only 20 members at this time and three of the members their results aren't in yet. So, this is very special to already have a Exact 37 marker test with just 17 males in the project! The paper work says, these members are 4th cousins. Their common ancestor is Josias Via, born abt. 1775 Franklin, Virginia - died aft. 1850 Virginia - married Rachel Hale 2 Jan 1800 Franklin, Virginia. The DNA is saying this is TRUE! The last names of these members are Viers & Viars, so that shows you a name doesn't tell you everything! (In comparing 37 markers, the probability that Kit 45276 and Kit 43766 shared a common ancestor with the last... 4 generations is a 83.49% 8 generations is a 97.28% 12 generations is a 99.55% 16 generations is a 99.93% 20 generations is a 99.99% 24 generations is a 100% Please check our website out and join the FUN! http://www.familytreedna.com/(35540o45yjnflp45kmyah055)/public/ViaSurnameProject/index.aspx YOU might have a 37 marker match with a member in our group. You won't know if you don't join the project. Sincerely, Elaine =^..^=

    3. This is a part of an email I got today from a NEW email buddy. Does any one on the list, have this 3 page information on Amer William Via. I would like a copy if they do. Elaine =^..^= I did find something yesterday about Amer, I think it is him and his wife Margaret. It was a marriage record for in the US an International Marriage records 1560-1900. Everything fits that I know to this point. Margaret Spencer b. abt 1660 in England. Amer William Via b. abt 1663 in France. It shows the marriage state as Virginia. I have ordered the record so that I can obtain more information. It states that it is 3 pages of information. There is also another US International marriage record for Amer Via b france to Elizabeth ???. Neither gave actual marriage dates.

    3. Hi group, I'm seeking information about a man whose name was James G. Vier. He was an early Idaho miner living in Lemhi county Idaho as early as 1870. In May, 1906 he was discovered dead at his remote cabin along the banks of Beaver Creek, a tributary to Panther Creek in Lemhi County. He was buried nearby. His cabin was located on property that would later be homesteaded in 1919. My family purchased this property in 1940. I'm posting this message with hopes that perhaps someone may be able to help identify his origin or give me some hints of where to look further. Thanks! Ivan Nichols Moab, UT ============================== This is what I have learned about Vier: James G. Vier Born: circa 1839-1846 at Missouri Married: unknown Died: May, 1906 at his cabin on Beaver Creek, just East of, and opposite, Dry Wash Gulch. Found by Willard Rood Sr. after having been dead for several days and buried nearby. Evidence of his cabin and garden spot, between Beaver Creek and the original road, were visible in 1942. His grave is under the Pine trees at the mouth of Dry Wash Gulch. I have a book that he owned relating to gold mining that was printed in the 1860's so evidently he was literate. 1870 Census for Idaho, Lemhi County, Loon Creek Mining District, Post Office: Leesburg: Vier, J. 2. In a message dated 2/10/2006 10:55:29 PM Pacific Standard Time, wbkelley@earthlink.net writes: It doesn't seem likely. The White House didn't exist during George Washington's lifetime. In fact, the national capital was still in Philadelphia when he died. When Washington left office in 1797, he and Martha Washington returned to Mount Vernon. He died there in 1799; she died there in 1802. She and Washington were both rich, she would never have had to operate a tearoom, and she isn't mentioned in history as having done so. Besides, the White House wasn't completed until the end of 1800, at which time she was already 69½ years old. Before then, the newly created city of Washington was virtually a mudhole. Bill, Thank you for this piece of informational history. It's amazing how much we learn about history when researching family lines. Thanks Bill for this info. Judy

    2. In a message dated 2/9/2006 10:52:17 PM Pacific Standard Time, Janvm1030@aol.com writes: No, not at all did I intend to imply that I thought there was but one immigrant ancestor of ours, Amor Via. I do believe that we all descend from him. Janelle, Thank you for your reply. Although it does appear that the lines of the Albemarle County Via's go back to Amer, this is still an assumption and I didn't want to miss seeing any other possibilites. One of the things that still concerns me is - was William a brother of Robert's? Let me first say I believe these lines are all connected. However, it is so easy to make incorrect assumptions. I know our assumptions regarding William being Amor's son has some logical explanations behind it. However could William have been a son of Robert? The thing that nags me a little is that William showed up in the processioning records so many years after Robert did. I don't have the records in front of me but it seems like Robert first appears in the processioning records in about 1715. William does not appear until 1731. Sixteen years is not that big of an age gap especially if Robert was the eldest in the family and William the youngest. However, if Amor and wife died by about 1716 or so that's a long time between William appearing in the records. It has always bothered me that in these same records there is no mention of Via orphans. If William were underage that's how he would have been referred to. Just some additional thoughts to throw around. Judy
