William I tried the website, changing the ? to a /, but still got an error message. Renee
This death register is terrific. I tried several times while I was in Charlottesville to read those rolls, could not do it. Went to Richmond and had the same problem. I made a disc for use in the future. Good Evening!!! I realize they get complicated, but that is what makes them so much fun. Have you seen the site with the death records for Albe. Co. on them. Excellent. Never found so many people so quick. Gives cause of death. The original rolls were so difficult to read I gave up. Does anyone have a will index for Albemarle County, Virginia? I'd like to see if Rowland Horsley left a will. Rowland died sometime after 1772 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. I still suspect but have no proof that Susanna his wife might have been a Via. Rowland & Susanna's daughter Elizabeth married Charles Goodman in 1761. Micajah Via and Bond Burnett were two of the witnesses to the deed from Rowland to Charles conveying a negro named Roger. Bond Burnett was married to Rowland's daughter Isabella Horsley and Micajah Via may have been married to a Burnett. Micajah may have been the brother of Susanna. Isabell Horsley, daughter of Rowland and Susanna Horsley named a son Micajah Burnett. So all is still speculation on Susanna but I'd like to see Rowland Horsley's will if he left one. Thank you for any help, Judy
Good Evening!!! In Goodman's will he mentions his sister in law Nance Horsley and last wife (one of two) Salle. Perhaps she was Sarah Elizabeth Horsley! Also the location of the burial ground mention in his will that sets aside is given by a researcher. Will says both wives are buried there so he owned the land a long time. I will look for the grant for the land. We will see who lives close and with the directions given by the researcher you will know the location. Apparently Horsley Goodman died the next year after his father and he has a stone. Good Evening, Group!!! I have that Eliza Rodes b. 6-20-1762 d. 12-32-1832 married HorsleyGoodman 5-8-1783 her parents were David Rodes and Mary Mills and Mary Mills parents were Matthew Mills and Mary Terrill. These families all lived just a few miles east of White Hall. Judy, I believe the lady in Charlottesville you had doing research worked on the Rodes land entries on Barracks Road. This land is now owned by Wick McNeely, I think. There's a pretty good site for Pulaski Co., Virginia. I found quite a few cemetery entries at this site and a couple of obituaries for Via/Viers. Here's the site address: http://www.genexchange.org/county.cfm?state=va&county=pulaski Judy

You're wonderful to volunteer to do this. Mainly it's at William's request but I'm always interested in anything on the Via's. So I hope William has responded to you with the specifics you need (institution, hours of operation, items he wants, etc). Judy
Good Morning!!! No marrige date yet, birth is estimated at 1692 New Kent Co. Va died before 1774 Albemarle Co. Probably buried at Burning Daylight Farm northwest of Free Union, Albemarle Co. VA. We are still looking for full documentation. With luck it will be in the Brown Bible Records that begin in 1750. Good Morning, Maupin and Via Group!!!! Made it through the twenty seven pages of Statham material. Looks even better than I had expected. Now William (Amer) Via can be proud of the fact that he was the ancestor of at least two Presidents of the United States. We found out several months ago that Daniel and Margaret Via Maupin had a descendant named George Bush, Rep. President from Texas. Now it is reported that Robert and Jean Via Thompson had a descendant named Lyndon B. Johnson, Dem. President from Texas. Well this will balance our Political Ticket.
